Default Does approval for the Zync guarantee PRG approval too?

I've read on a few forums that apparently if you're approved for an AMEX card and build a relationship with them, your almost always approved for any other tier card. Does anyone have any experiences with this?

I just recently got approved for a ZYNC card and although the card hasn't come in yet. I sort of feel like I want a PRG card and only applied for the ZYNC to get my foot in the door with AMEX. But in all reality, I wanted a PRG card all along. Not a ZYNC...

I thought applying for the ZYNC would be the easiest to get approved for...

Being approved for the ZYNC does not guarantee approval for Premier Rewards Gold. Nothing is guaranteed of course. Having a ZYNC for a year and exhibiting good charging/paying habits will definitely bode well for future apps. What are your FICO scores like? Any negative info? I assume you applied for ZYNC because of a low score or due to negative info or just being new to credit.

In a year go ahead and apply for the PRG (if they don't already offer you an upgrade). The new account will be backdated to 2012 and it will only cost you an inquiry.

Patience, friend. Grab a couple of packs for the Zync, and earn extra points that way. After a year or so, apply for the PRG. All of your Zync "Express" points will convert to regular MR points.

With the Zync packs you can earn extra points for the categories you use the card for most. It's not quite as good as the PRG, but you can upgrade in a little while if you are responsible.

I don't believe you can upgrade the Zync card but i agree that as an existing card member, it is easy to get approval or considered for approval . Depending on the number of hard pulls you already have, if only one and don't mind another hard pull, you can apply but if you follow PETE's & CC's recommendation it will definitely improve your chances of approval.

Use this lucky LINK if you are going to apply and see if you have a pre-selected / special offer.
