Thread: Wanting to get into AmEx

Hey all, as you can see I'm awfully new. I just had a question about getting my foot in the door with American Express. I started building credit with a CapOne card and have steadily moved up in the amount of cards I have. I also have a high amount of credit inquiries. What would you recommend applying for through AmEx? I've been looking into the Zync, and Green card. I guess at this point I just need some advice.

First of all how many credit cards do you currently have? which ones do you have?

are you a college student who works or do you work full-time? do you travel on business?

I have quite a bit for my age. However after readin about the Zync card for a few hours, I finally decided just to apply for it, but also as a way to see where I stand with getting a card with American Express, I was instantly approved, too. So I guess it just gets better from here!

Honestly, I don't know where my scores at at the moment. I've been looking into getting a program that updates all 3 scores, I've been looking at Score Sense since that's what my friend used.

As far as cards, I have a Macy's card with a 1k limit, but that doesn't report to my credit report as I am an employee, I have a Sony PlayStation card, an MTV Visa, as well as Journey card, all three through Capital One. I also have a Bank Of America Student card and a Visa student card through my local credit union, as well as my New Zync card.

From reading the forums in the past, when its under review most likely you will get approved. There is an office that u can call and explain to them why you want this card and its under review. You should be good to go from there.

I want an AMEX card myself, but my credit isn't so great. Probably re-apply around July or August.

Thats exactly what I would do, I applied for a Macy's American Express and was denied on the grounds I work there. Back in September I then applied for an Amex card, though I can't remember which one right off the bat. So just give it time and build up your score.
