Thread: Upgrading HHonors to Surpass

Hi guys

I just spotted an offer from amex offering 50,000 hhonors points for upgrading the hhonors card to a surpass. For me, that justifies a $75 fee... I would downgrade the card after a year. Here comes the question... SHOULD I try to upgrade? I am sure it would result in a hard pull correct? My hhonors has a limit of 4.8k... 1st statement a little over a month ago had a balance of 1.3k... payed in full. My zync card is ~5 months old... I have a much longer history with the cards listed in my signature... should I try to upgrade the card online or give them a call? I am overseas at the moment until the summer... The offer sounds very tempting to me..

other info... i have 2 hard pulls in the last half year both from amex... both approved

So you have the existing standard HHonors card correct? And they want you to upgrade? There should not be a hard inquiry for accepting the upgrade.

i do have the card already. the offer is online on the website for 50,000 pts. i just called and the rep told me that i need to wait until the 22nd until my account is 2 months old
