    Default Misposted/missing credit card payment?

    Hello everyone:

I have made a payment to AMEX recently. The amount was missing/misposted, and AMEX said they will start investigation.

Did it ever happen to anyone? How is it possible to mispost a credit card payment?

It happened to me once with a Capital One car payment. Despite showing them my bank statements with their name in the debits column they still wouldn't relent. Unless you mailed them cash in a brown envelope there is a paper trail, and if you persist it will eventually work out. In the mean time I would make an extra payment in good faith.

how did you make the payment? i been using "bill pay" with my bank for the past 8 years and i never came across this situation. IMO writing, cutting and mailing checks the traditional way may involve more human errors (misplace by post office and sorters, incorrect data entry).

I paid via "wire transfer" since I am located in Saudi Arabia now. I have made many payment to AMEX, however, the have misposted the last two payments.

I am really getting nervous of their mistakes. I made many wire transfers to different places, and mitakes ONLY happened with AMEX!
