Pre Selected Credit Card Offers: Chances of Approval?
I have a mail in pre selected credit card offer for AMEX Gold, Green, and Zync...! If i apply for any one of those, is there a basis for checking the probability of me getting approved...
I really don't need a credit card right now, just wanna get in door step of AMEX and try to get Blue Cash card later on...
Any suggestions.!

As with everything else in life, you get it when you least need or have no need for it. The chances of you being approved is 50%, if approved for the zync now in 2011, all or any other card you get from Amex will be backdated to reflect Member Since 2011. I recommend applying simply because you don't need it :-)

A "preapproval" is almost always made only because you fit a certain profile - belong to a certain club, subscribe a a specific magazine, signed up for certain travel information, etc. There has rarely been any credit check done except possibly a very cursory check in big consumer databases. That means that your chance of success is not much different than if you did not have the "preapproval." You have a good chance if you have good credit and a bad chance if you have bad credit. The preapproval is just meant to make you feel good. It doesn't mean very much really.
