Default "upgrading" from zync to gold premier rewards?

    Hey Guys,

Hope all is well. So I've been eyeing a switch recently from my Amex Zync to Amex Gold. To give some brief background I'm a current senior in college with the following cards:

    BankAmericard Visa (Since '08)
Amex BlueCash Preferred (Since Dec '10)
    Amex Zync (Since Dec '09).

I have a good payment history with no late payments on any of them, ever. And I've paid the balance in full every month on each card (including the BankAmericard) I have no student debt (or any other debt) and the last time I checked my score it was around 730ish.

The reason I've been eyeing the change is because I'll be graduating in June and starting a new job requiring me to travel quite a bit and the 3x point looks enticing. I don't want a dedicated "miles card" because I don't want to have to use like four different cards. I would much rather have an all around card (in addition to the visa and blue cash) and I've had a phenomenal experience with my zync thus far so I'm set on staying with Amex. I'm eyeing the change now simply because it's the end of the year and it'd be nice to have fees and such be on the fiscal year rather than some random month (pet peeve of mine ).

In any case, what do you guys think?

The idea itself is great but if i am not mistaken, the Zync card is not upgradable.

you are correct if the person wants a gold rewards card, they have to apply. but they get to keep the same membership date. for this person it would be 09.

if traveling on business the gold rewards sounds like a great idea.

    thanks for the responses!

and ahh i see, I didn't realize that. Given that i've had the zync for almost two years and have had a pretty solid history with Amex, do you guys think I'd have any trouble getting approved?

No one here can tell you for sure if you will be approved or not. We all can guess based on your statement that you have a solid relationship with AMEX that you might be approved for any of the gold cards.

If you want the card, if it fits your needs, then go for it. If you are approved, then congratulations. good luck with your application.

Why do you ever wanna "upgrade"

you really can not afford one inquiry ????

If you like a card, just apply it.

I have 20+ inquiries in my repost and I still get approved for my SPG and ZYNC, Lol

You are going to be an easy approval. Additionally it might even be instant approval.

Let us know so we can celebrate :-)

I applied for the PR Gold after having my Zync card for 11months, the approval took 15 seconds. I'm still in college with no real income and a 2 year old credit history. Trust me they will approve you; unless you've maxed out every other card, stopped paying your bills and rented out a cardboard box under some overpass as your new home.

wow... thats very interesting... are you perhaps an authorized user on your parents accounts? how do you justify the high annual fee as a college student?

I'm also a college student, albeit a senior. I'm not an authorized user on my parents account (I have my own), although I do have nice parents that were able to pay fees (and even some bills back freshman year LOL). But a couple of nice internships over the summers have more than taken care of it, plus I'll be starting a full time job in July.
