    Default New Amex recommendation

    Hello,

I have the Amex gold card currently. I am not getting a lot of bang for my buck from the rewards. I am looking for recommendations for Amex cards for someone who likes cash back and uses my cards for groceries, gas, every day purchases, restaurants, and entertainment. Thanks in advance.
    Cards
Visa: BofA Cash rewards Visa Signature (1% on everything)
Kroger 123 Rewards Visa, Ascend FCU Platinum Visa (1% back), Penfed Platinum Cash Rewards Visa (5% on Gas)
BofA Cash Reward Platinum Plus (1% on everything, 2%on groceries, 3% on gas), Penfed Platinum Rewards Visa ( 5 points on gas, 3 points on groceries, 1 point on everything else)

Discover: Discover More (5% back rotating categories), Discover Miles (2% on travel and restaurants, double miles on phone, internet, and tv

Amex: Gold Card, BofA Accelerated Cash Rewards (1.5% on everything)

Express Store card (points for gift certificates and special deals)

Amex Platinum as i indicated in one of my last posts is offering a sign up bonus of 50,000 points. If transferred to delta, you get 50,000 miles and 15,000 bonus miles totaling 65000. That is two round trip ticket of you can simply get gift cards or whatever you want. You get an additional one point for every dollar but keep in mind this points are worth more. With a 450 membership and the above offer, it is definitely worth looking into.
While i like American Express, you might want to consider a Visa card, Chase is aggressively offering 300 dollars for the freedom card and the Chase Sapphire Preferred is offering 50,000 bonus points = $500.00 cash back or $625.00 towards airfare/hotel! .

! You can use this link provided by this forum to apply http://creditcardforum.com/offers/ch...-preferred.php.

There is no cap on the amount of rewards points that can be earned with the card and the points never expire.

Future what about a tiny move from the basic gold to the gold premier rewards?

    - ...I am looking for recommendations for Amex cards for someone who likes cash back and uses my cards for groceries, gas... - This is an easy one, just go for any of the Blue Cash cards.

The problem with the Blue Cash is that Kroger isn't considered a grocery store. I do all of my grocery shopping there because I like to earn the fuel points. I am thinking that I may do away with Amex altogether if I can't find a viable solution.

You sure about that? I shop at Kroger as well and get the 2x points with my PR Gold. Hell even 7-Eleven was considered a grocery store!

Both of my local Kroger Stores are considered grocery stores. In fact if I buy Starbucks inside of Kroger it shows up as grocery. That is not necessarily the same for all Kroger chains. Kroger Marketplace is a "hypermarket" and will not likely be considered a grocery store. I am sure there are other Kroger owned chains that will also fall outside the "grocery store" model.
