Default Spent $800k YTD & still no Amex Centurion invitation?

I just checked my year to date spending on my platinum card and i have spent around $800k, every time I call Amex Centurion they tell me they are sending out invitations at the end of the year, is this true?

The invitations probably run the full calendar year January through December. Even if you hit the $250K minimum spend in July, they probably won't offer the upgrade until December with the cards arriving in January; next-day air of course.

For a comparison; this is how Macy's works their upgrades. Spend $500 during the calendar year, they will send the upgraded Gold, $1000 Platinum or $3000+ Elite level card in January of the following year.

From both my own personal experience and the experiences of other Macy's cardholders, Macy's has been known to do immediate/near-immediate upgrades at times depending on situations and circumstances. I remember when I got upgraded, it was within a month or two after the rep on the phone informed me during a phone call regarding making a payment that I was eligible for the upgrade.
    Personal Collection:

    AMEX: Blue, Macy's (cobranded)
MASTER: Citibank Dividend Platinum Select (non-World version)
VISA: Chase Amazon Signature, Chase (bank issued)
GE: Care Credit (medical expenses), Macy's (store), JCP (store)

    Business Collection:

    AMEX: Costco True Earnings
    MASTER: None
    VISA: Chase Ink Cash

    Your Milage May Very.

I opened my Macy's in September 2007 and by November 2007 I had spent $500. They did not send me the Gold Star Rewards until January 2008.

Maybe they work differently for Platinum and especially Elite. Again, YMMV.

Do not get stressed, December is almost here. If they want you to be a Centurion cardholder, you will receive your invitation when the time is right.

And please, let us know when it happens.

More misinformation from people who have no clue. This is no longer the minimum spend. The standards have changed and no one knows what they are ($3MM? Maybe more? Type of spend?). No invites were sent out in 2011.

Good luck OP, let us know if you get one.
