Default Need a favor from a current cardholder

I'm looking at getting an Amex charge card as an entry into the Amex family for a BCE down the road. Thing is I don't travel and most of the rewards are geared towards that end. One thing me and my wife do do is go to the casino once a year, she loves it. Can someone take a look and see if the Harrah's Cherokee Casino in North Carolina is one that you can transfer points for? Other than that I am really struggling to see what I would use Amex's points for.

Are there really any other benefits to the Amex Rewards program if you don't travel that I am missing. It seems everything is geared towards flights/hotels and everything else has an absolutely horrid redemption value.

I couldn't find Caesar's (formerly Harrah's) Total Rewards listed as a transfer partner in any of my literature or online. Caesar's Palace (in Las Vegas) is listed as a redemption partner, as is Mandalay, Wynn, Bellagio, and MGM, meaning you could exchange points for lodging.

The only hotel chains listed for transfer of points to their reward program are SPG, BW, HH, Priority Club, ChoiceHotels, and Jumeirah

since you don't travel on business you can redeem your points for gift cards like the Gap, Brooks Brothers, Macy's, restaurants like McCormick & Schmicks, PF Chengs, Red Lobster etc. There are a lot to choose from.

Isnt the redemption value for gift cards pretty bad though?

from what I understand I believe it's 3500 points for a store gift card of 25.00 and 2500 for a American express gift card 25.00.

you told us that you don't travel. so when redeeming a Coach gift card might be nice, Neiman Marcus might be nice.

there might be a lot of people who agree with you. but since you don't travel a gift card is better than nothing.

True. The Amex gift card rate is fine, I can work with that. Hopefully after a year the BCE will be a go and I can just close the green and not have to worry about it.

The Amex gift card rate is horrible, at .5%. But they have several restaurants at 1% and that will work for a year.

since you told us that you don't travel just curious how do you like your green card?

I also don't travel so like you I use the card for personal use, with the exception of the 95 dollar annual fee I like the card very much.
