Default Would I get approved or no?

I'm looking to apply for a blue cash preferred. My scores are around 720 FICO, 4 new accounts in last 6 months, no baddies, 2 inq on EX in last 6 months. Currently have had a zync for 5 months, used heavily, pif everytime. What do you think?

You might be able to get it now, but they are stricter with credit cards than charge cards, so I would wait a couple of months. Let your history with Amex age a little bit; 5 months isn't that long. Also, let the recent inquiries get over 6 months old (over 1 year old even better) so they're not considered so recent.

I'd certainly agree w/ Code of Honor- in addition, I think it would come off as being a little desperate for credit to them if you apply with 4 new accounts in a 6 month period.

Though if you have 4 new accounts so recently, why the need for the blue cash preferred right away? Obviously the rewards are higher, but I'd wait several months before even applying to save on a hard inquiry should you not be approved.

I've personally had three new accounts in the last six months including the Zync; I don't plan to apply for anything else within the next 1-2 years to help my credit score anyway. After that time period I'll most likely look into the blue cash as well.

Best of luck with whatever decision you go with however- let us know!

I think I'll take your guy's advice. I'll wait a few more months for the bcp. I see you also have a chase freedom. I Think I'll pick up that one and it'll be my last card for a few months till I get the bcp. Any advice on the chase freedom? What were your scores when you were approved?

I don't really have any huge pointers on the Chase Freedom- I was sort of surprised I was approved. I wasn't instantly approved, as it said I would receive a decision within 10 business days; I called one of the backdoor numbers here a couple days after however, and an automated teller told me I was approved for a $1,000 limit, quite generous from having a $500 Capital One card. I'll never use that much in a month anyway, but I had the Zync one month before the Chase inquiry, which why I was a bit hesitant. I believe they too pulled from Experian.

If anything though, you'd probably have a much better chance at the Chase Freedom than the Blue Cash Preferred imo.

I figured my current three cards are the best for my situation anyway- Cap One is one of my first cards (longest history), no foreign transaction fee, double cash back for travel purchases.
Chase Freedom has 5% quarterly cashback deals, as well as the $200 sign-up bonus.
Lastly, the Zync is my foot in the door w/ Amex, and will use that a long while before getting a Blue Cash credit card.

As far as scoring- I signed up for Zync's financial pack, which indicates my current credit report and credit score- it says 728. Upon receiving my new card information from Chase however, it showed a 628-ish score. I'm not sure what the deal is, though I don't know that a new account would bring it down 100 points.
I just checked my updated report from Amex, shows the new Chase account in the report, but the 728 score appears the same. So who knows.

Edit: i should also mention I've banked with Chase for a few years now, so I'm not sure if that had any influence on approval.

One of the two, if not both are FAKO's.

Oh sorry I forgot to update you all. I applied about a week ago and was approved with 3500 starting CL, card should be arriving soon. I think I'll be gardening for the next few months at least until most of my new accounts age over 6 months.

very nice. I am jealous.. my situation is similar to yours except without the zync and I couldn't get a BCP nor a clear.. I applied for zync as a last ditch effort and was declined. Recon it and I will find out this afternoon if I am denied once again!!

Shaddix, stop applying for card for some time, you are hurting your credit score big time. do not try to get approved every time you apply for one. Wait some time, and then just apply for one card.
