Thread: Gold PR 3x pts buying airline directly vs. 2x thru website?

I just signed up for an Amex Gold Premier account due to a sweet promotion that offers me $50K points if I use $1K in the first three months. I also get 3x the points for airline tickets. I noticed that the Amex website has a feature where I can purchase plane/hotel tickets and states that I get 2x the rewards.

Since I am a Gold Premier customer, am I losing out on points for purchasing my plane tickets through their website (ie. 3x vs 2x). Does not seem logical but since I am not getting any response from customer service, perhaps this is the case. Or maybe I'm getting 6x the points which I doubt but wouldn't mind.

Any insight would be much appreciated. Thank you.

you shouldn't be losing out. if you go through them you should be getting double vs if go through your own.

I will assume you travel on business do you? if so where does your company want you to get your airline tickets? If your company says you can use whatever travel agent you want I would call them up and ask this question, you shouldn't be losing out.
