Thread: American Express instant approval not happening?

I just applied for an American Express Gold Card, and at the end of my application it said we are unable to give you an an instant decision. What does it mean when they can't give you an instant approval? Am I likely to be declined now ?

* I never lied on my application, and all information was correct and I have a household income of + £20,000.

If you are declined, that is usually the screen it will give you. However, it often gives you that screen if you have never had a card with them. Or, the most likely reason, your income is too low for the computer to automatically approve you. The application will be reviewed by an actual person.

did it say they will get back to you in 14 days they did that to me on my blue cash everyday and they emailed me 4 days later with approval/

You can check your app status. When I applied for the SPG Amex last month it said they'd let me know in x amount of days and I immediately went to that link and it told me I was approved.

Generally they may need to verify certain information. This forum (as far as I know) is primarily for American credit cards. You may need to check with the local UK Amex website to determine what is happening with your application.
