    Post Status Of Application

If a card application is denied, a hard inquire to CRB is already done, but what about when a card application is cancelled?

What it means when an application has been cancelled?

Best word i can think of to describe this situation is OHNO-Second. This is the time you clicked the submit button and realized that you don't need to complete the process. If i understand your question, you want to cancel your application after applying? The application is pretty much automated and sometimes a human hand is needed to complete the approval process but this after a hard pull was already completed.

What i mean is: on AMEX application status webpage when the application was submitted and reviewed, if it is declined it appears like that: Application Status: Declined.

But sometimes it says Application Status: Cancelled.

the question here is what it means.

At some point they stopped processing the application because it was either erroneous or withdrawn by the consumer. I suggest you call to see what is going on with your app.

I had that happen to me recently. Applied for the SPG credit card and then several days later applied for the new MB credit card. I noticed a few days later that the SPG app was still in progress but the MB app was showing as cancelled. When I called CSR they said that the system will often automatically cancel an application if it comes too quickly after another app. I know some people have submitted more than one app on same day and both go through but this is clearly not always the case.

My initial doubt is still not answered. To cancel the application, there was a hard inquire or not?

The hard inquiry is processed literally seconds after you click submit. So I assume the answer to your question is yes, unless is was cancelled due to an invalid SSN (I.E. mistyped).
