Thumbs up My American Express Platinum Concierge Service Experience

Last night they proved me why I am paying for an AF so high, but 100% valuable.

Looking for a hotel in crowed SF, to stay for 2 nights, with every hotel room already booked, i just call the Concierge Service, and they were able to find me a room in a really nice hotel close to the Embarcadero for a quite good rate.

have you ever done this with Visa Signature? doesn't have to be a hotel, could be dining reservations or looking for a gift for somebody. ever use the visa signature concierge? how does it compare to American express platinum concierge?

I was just in Stuttgart, Germany last week and not only was my GPS not working, I speak but a few words of German. After driving around for a while I called The AMEX Platinum concierge service for help finding a room for the night. The gentleman I spoke to helped me find where I was, located an adequate hotel near me, took care of the reservation, and helped me get there.

    Well worth the price paid.

Smile Does Platinum concierge offer unlimited use?

    Good afternoon,

I just upgraded to American Express Platinum. So far, I am very impressed with the benefits of this card. The concierge service is amazing, and I have already put it to use in different capacities.

I am a small business owner, and part of the work I do requires much internet research on an array of topics. The concierge has been a great resource to speed up this process and act as a virtual assistant of sorts.

My question is whether or not the concierge service is of unlimited use. Do they track how often you use the service and put a cap on your usage???

Other Platinum card holders, what are you experiences with the card? Have you been pleased so far?

    Thank you!

    J.

I've been very happy with the platinum concierge service. But it is not intended to be your business assistant so they might cut you off at some point. It's hard to say. I think the key is whether you follow through and actually buy things through them. It's not so much that you are required to buy from them to use the concierge, it's just that if you just use them a lot and never follow through then they might get excited.

I have a visa signature card too but I have not used their concierge service. I suspect it is like anything else. You probably get good service if you connect with a competent operator with a normal request but it suffers if you get someone not very good or want something difficult.

In my opinion, dining reservations are an almost wasted use of the concierge except for places that are difficult to get into or if you are in a new city. I use open table or just call the restaurant directly and have always had great results.

Just read reviews on another forum about concierge for Visa and Amex. Seems that Visa might be the better performer. Especially when you consider the AF for Amex and NO annual fee for the Visa.

I called Platinum Concierge for reservations at trendy restaurant on a Saturday night when Open Table said there was none, and got a reservation as well as a restaurant contact name. Keep in mind that all these fancy restaurants accept AMEX so there is already some relationship established with the restaurant. If you were the restaurant owner wouldn't you want AMEX to keep sending you Platinum members to drink & dine in your expensive establishment?
