Default Should I keep both of my AmEx cards?

First off hello everyone, this is my first post here and I'm looking forward to staying

I first got started with AMEX in February of 2009 with Blue for Students ($500 limit). They upgraded me to Blue Sky in December of that year, and finally increased my credit limit to $1,500 two months ago. I just applied for and was approved for the Premier Gold card

I plan to do most of my spending on the Gold now obviously cause of the great rewards, but should I keep the Blue sky?

If I am correct in assuming that there is no annual fee for the Blue Sky, then yes, you should keep it. In case you don't already know, you generally can reassign your available credit from one card to another within the Amex family by calling them. You might find this useful in the future.

Because of your choice of cards, I assume you are a moderate to heavy traveler. If this is not the case, it might be worthwhile to look around at some of the other reward card options out there. For instance, if a large portion of your spending is at restaurants, department stores, gas stations, you could probably do better with a different card that rewards more in those categories: Amex Blue Cash, Chase Freedom or Citi Forward, for instance.

Just don't dig yourself into a hole like I did when I was a student.
    CARDS (and why)
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (best cash back excepting 5% cards), Fidelity Visa (spare)
Chase: Freedom (only for 5% reward categories, purchases under $10), Sapphire (not in use), Amazon Rewards (for Amazon purchases only)
CapitalOne: No Hassle Rewards (no foreign transaction fee, my only MasterCard, not in use)
Amex: Blue Cash Everyday (not in use)
Discover: More (only for 5% reward categories)

Thanks for the response. Well funny thing is that when I asked to upgrade my student account, all they could give me was the Blue sky at that time. I took it because according to them, student accounts can't have a credit limit increase until 5 years after opening.

I don't travel as much as I would like, but within the next year I'm expecting to land a higher paying job which will allow me to do so. I was considering applying for Blue cash, but was concerned I wouldn't get it. My credit scores are 750 EX, 750 EQ, and 768 TR. Do you think I should still apply for the Cash card? My only concern then would be having three open AMEX accounts, and possibly having another hard inquiry on my account.

So after calling AMEX, they switched over my Blue Sky to Blue Cash Everyday. Now my only question is what should I be charging on what card?

i have blue cash and green.....i use blue for most things (groceries, dept store purchases, etc) that work within the cashback schema and i use green for travel purchases and unexpected expenses -- for instance interview clothes after graduating from grad school.
