Cool Converting Amex Points To Miles - Newbie Guides?

Hey everyone! I am new to this whole credit cards rewards thing, got a AMEX Gold last month and want to really take advantage of the points for travel.

I make sure to use my card as a replacement for cash to help build my points up as much as I can.

Looking over some of the airline offers it just seems a bit confusing on how I will qualify for airfare? If I was doing my math right, a standard round trip for free Delta will cost 40K in spending, but round trips on JetBlue came out to be just a few thousand?

I am pretty sure I am NOT doing my math right haha. If anyone could give me some helpful tips on how spending on airfare works, average spending and miles needed for free RT ticket, and best airline point promotion to use I would greatly appreciate it!!

    Mike

Hey Mike, I think the frequent flyer programs are intentionally made confusing by the airlines to make it more difficult to compare apples to apples. The formulas vary greatly between them. Do you have a specific airline or route you usually fly?

As far as concerting American Express points to miles, there is a post on here which shows the partner airlines and the conversion ratio for Membership Rewards points. American Express Rewards Airlines List
