That preferred blue cash looks like it might be worth upgrading!
$75 bucks a year isn't bad.
Anyone else thinking of upgrading?
I called yesterday and had my existing Blue Cash switched to the no-fee "everyday" card. The "preferred" card would net me about an additional $15 per year after deducting the fee, based on my estimated supermarket spending, which is all I would use the card for.
It's worth pointing out that they say "supermarket" and not "groceries." They likely only apply the higher reward to large supermarket chains and might not even include something like Whole Foods. (There was a story a while back where some angry WF-shopping Blue cardholders got Amex to change its designation for that store, I think.)
If they gave 3% at supermarkets AND restaurants, then the new card might be worth it to me. I expect I'll be leaving it home as I do with my current Blue Cash card.

BTW, Smerri, do you work for Amex. Your post went up morning of April 26, but Amex press release didn't hit businesswire until morning of April 27.

No I am not an AmEx employee. I was on the site checking my account balance and was checking out the view all cards page and these caught my eye. I did notice though that I beat the press release (when I went looking on Amex's Twitter and Facebook page and nothing was there).
I called twice today and Neither rep would tell me the average requirements.. I'm assuming it will be the same as the old blue cash.. what do you all think?
Do you mean average requirements in obtaining the card or the spending minimum (ie $6500 on Blue in order to earn bigger rewards)? Because there is no spending minimum for these cards in order to earn higher percentage.
If you go to compare the two cards you can see this.
How You Earn Points or Miles
Get 6% cash back at supermarkets, 3% cash back at gas stations and department stores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. No spend minimum and no enrollment fees.
Get 3% cash back at supermarkets, 2% cash back at gas stations and department stores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. No spend minimum and no enrollment fees.

I have my PR Gold but I am in the process of buying a house (and moving out of the parents house). I am almost tempted to get 6% on groceries and 3% on gas and use the cash back to book points flights with my PR Gold to get 3x points to transfer to frequent flyer programs (and use PR Gold for all other spending). I know my PR Gold gives 2x points on gas and groceries but that 6% is very tempting.
No, I meant Score/Income requirement
American Express kept everyone in the dark about the change. Not even affiliates were notified until the day of change.
Here is the updated review for the new "Everyday" version: American Express Blue Cash Everyday

Help got the original amex blue cash in Nov blew threw the $6500 cap in 6 weeks spent
since then
gas 1668
grocery 4164
drug 779
every day 14,103
department store $276
I have been averaging about $90 in cash back is it worth my getting the cash pref.
I love getting 5% back on gas especially with gas prices up here. Do I just keep what I have or maybe consider switching when I hit my 1 year anniverary and have to spend $6500 to get the ramped up rewards. or is there a chance they might just drop the $6500 minimum in spending to get the better rewards.
