Default Dumbest idea ever: American Express Porsche 911 Centurion

I came across this and can't believe it. There is a limited edition American Express Porsche 911 that is available in Hong Kong. Everything on them is black and their price is over double MSRP for a similar 911. Does American Express think folks are stupid enough to pay double the price on a Porsche for an Amex badge slapped on it?

American Express offers pricey special in Hong Kong

Tacky, vulgar, uncouth...yes. Dumb, I don't think so. They're only making three of them and they will sell out instantly, I'm sure. The luxury goods market in China is bursting with consumers who have more money than sense. They should call it the Porsche 911 Parvenu and see if anyone gets the joke, or cares.

They made gold American Express Deloreans about 30 years ago. They sold like hotcakes and many of them are still around. I have no doubt these will sell quickly.

Ha! In a way this is the only saving grace America has against the Chinese, by selling them our branded merchandise. Porsche isn't American but I hear Cadillacs are huge over there.

I love those cars, probably because of Back to the Future a kid. I saw one the other day on my street. They're really quite affordable to buy although maintenance is another story. If they had more modern safety features like airbags I would buy one in a heartbeat.
