Will the American Express Platinum hotels save money or not?
The hotel benefits (upgrades/etc), look awesome, but I often wonder, since you have to book through AMEX, if the rates dont make up for those perks. I am going to price some higher end options in Hawaii, and I would appreciate it if someone with platinum can price these rooms through their service. Should give me an idea if I should upgrade from Gold Premiere to Platinum...
August 22->30 2 Guests, standard room (lowest rate) King bed
Four Seasons Hualalai (on the big island)
TOTAL: $4962.13 (fifth night free promotion- standard total $5671.00)
Four Seasons Maui
TOTAL: $4219.08
St. Regis Princeville Resort
PER NIGHT: $550
If someone could take some time, I'd really appreciate it!!

Hi CarZin,
I just got my Platinum Card literally a week ago and am interested in the perks/savings too.
You have to call for the Four Seasons Hualalai
But here's the one I found, booking thru Fine Hotels and Resorts on the Amex Platinum website:
I'm sure you already know the standard benefits for every hotel:
Room upgrade, if available
Daily continental breakfast for two
4 PM late checkout
Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea:
Additional Hotel Benefit: US$100 food and beverage credit to be used during your stay.
Mountainside Room King Bed: $3,720 for 8 nights
(pre-taxes and fees at checkout time)
St. Regis wasn't listed on their website as a search result and I couldn't find it manually thru FHR, only the NY and CO locations.
Hope this helps.
