    Default Confirming which Amex purchases qualify for bonus points?

    When I go online to look at my points statement, it just gives me one lump sum of the points I am earning each month. I've got a premiere gold card, and use it for gas, groceries, travel, and a few other miscellaneous charges. Since it's new for me, I just wanted to be able to verify that the grocery stores I shop at, gas I buy, or travel I book is getting the appropriate 2x and 3x points.

    Any way to see itemized bonus points on a statement rather than just the lump sum per month? I want to be able to verify that purchases eligible for 2x and 3x points are actually getting the bonus points.

    Also on a side note I was wondering about airfare or vacation package bonus points. They advertise that I'll get 2x points by booking travel through the AMEX travel website. But they also say 3x points for booking qualified airfare on a major carrier. If I book air through the AMEX travel site will I only get 2x points? If I book the air directly through a carrier will I get the 3x points? What about vacation packages that include air+hotel through the AMEX travel site... only 2x points on the whole thing? Finally, what about vacation packages (air+hotel) booked through an airline like Delta?

    On your paper statement does it give a break down of the category for each charge? Because it should.

    What about vacation packages that include air+hotel through the AMEX travel site... only 2x points on the whole thing?
    If the card gives 2x points on travel booked through AmEx website then I would guess it applies to all purchases. For the other circumstances like booking a vacation package through the Delta website, I don't want to give any wrong information so I would recommend calling American Express customer service to see what they say.
