    Exclamation American Express approval requirements?

What score did you have when you got approved for an Amex? I have a few other cards, all with nice credit lines. I also have a good credit history with a mid 700's score. Amex keeps declining me when I have no problem getting a chase card, BOA or discover. Are 800's the approval requirements? I have wanted an amex since I first began establishing credit.

    Thanks for your help!

Are you applying for an AmEx charge card or credit card? The charge cards generally have less strict requirements as it is less of a risk for AmEx

You may find this post helpful which discusses estimates for approval requirements but please keep in mind these are estimates only:

If you are being denied with a mid 700 score, you must be applying for a credit card. As stated earlier, charge cards are easier to obtain because there is less risk. I got a Amex charge card about a year ago (which I use for everything) and when I obtained it my score was high 600s.

Mid 700's you would be approved. Mid meaning, 750+ Pull a credit report. something on there is holding you back. Also you can request that they send you the denial reason. My guess is BK last 7 years?..... I got a blue cash in early 2010 w/ a 14k limit. My score at that time was 760, with little credit history.

Also, you can of course get a free credit report once a year. You can also get one free more often if you have been denied credit.
