The Amex Gold Card gives you a free extended warranty! If the original manufacturer’s warranty is 5 years or less, Amex will extend it up to a year for free! So let’s say you buy a new laptop that the manufacturer only covers for one year (which is almost always the case). Thirteen months later, the fan goes bad and motherboard fries because of it (that’s what happened to me). If you bought it with your Amex Gold card, your warranty protection is twice as long – 24 months instead of 12! Just call up Amex and they will fix it or replace it for free!

Free Purchase Protection
What happens if your purchases with the credit card are lost, stolen, or accidentally damaged during the first three months? Amex will pay for to repair or replace eligible purchases – up to $1000 per claim and $50,000 per year! Purchases anywhere in the world are covered!

So let’s say you buy a new iPhone and then drop it on the pavement 2 months later. You can’t turn to AT&T because they don’t even offer insurance for that particular item. But if you bought it with your American Express Gold Card – you don’t have to worry!

TRAVELING:

Annual $100 Travel Credit
When people see the fine print on the American Express Gold card application, many are surprised to learn they can get a $100 statement credit every year on travel! Simply book through American Express Travel and in addition to getting amazing prices (which they have access to) you also will qualify for a $100 statement credit (you can get this once per year).

Car Rental Protection
Next time you rent a car, decline their pricey insurance coverage – because American Express has you covered for free as long as you pay with your Gold Card! Plus they give you free 24/7 roadside assistance on your rental!

Luggage Insurance
When traveling on a commercial airliner, passenger boat, train, bus, etc., what happens if your bags are lost, stolen, or damage? American Express offers free insurance – up to $1,250.00 for carry-ons and $500.00 for checked luggage. While that may not sound like much, keep in mind that’s in addition to the coverage provided by your airline, etc – so when you add both together, you’re much better off than the regular passenger would be!

$100,000 Travel Accident Insurance
Whether it’s an airline, cruise ship, train, taxi, limousine, etc… you’re protected from the moment you leave home until the moment you return - for free! Just pay for your trip using your Gold Card and protect yourself, your domestic partner, and dependent children under the age of 23 when traveling. Hopefully this is a feature you will never need to use, but travel accidents do happen (I know because I was in one!).

With the Gold Card, you’re protected up to $100,000 in the event of dismemberment or accidental death. Please note that although you need to be a U.S. resident, you are covered everywhere you travel – both domestically and internationally.

Global Assist Hotline
What if you’re traveling and your wallet is stolen – your passport, cards, and cash are gone? Or you are having a medical emergency in a third world country?
