Premier Rewards Gold Card -- Approval Chances After "Exclusive Invitation"

Postby notamember » Tue May 20, 2014 10:47 pm

Hello everyone!
I recently got an "exclusive invitation" for the PRG card.
I know its different for everyone whether they get approved or not but I just wanted some of your opinions!

I currently own 2 credit cards, Chase Freedom and Discover card with a $500 limit for each.
I pay all my cards within a month of purchase whenever I used my card. My most recent score from Equifax is 740. I own a small business, however I still have around $5000 in school loans. (I am still a student)

Without disclosing how much I make a year, what would my chances of being approved for this card be?

Any thoughts are much appreciated! Thanks in advance~

The invitation really doesn't mean anything with regard to approval odds.

Score looks good but if it's from Equifax it's a FAKO and won't be the score that AmEx uses. We're also not sure that AmEx will even pull EQ for you. Limits on your existing cards seem low and that would seem to indicate that Chase and Discover are a hit hesitant to extend credit for whatever reason(s). You haven't indicated what your AAoA is. "Paying within a month" doesn't tell us what your reported utilization is and it's very easy to have high reported utilization on low limit cards.

We really can't tell what your odds are. Best way to find out is to apply.

Thanks for your response, was thinking no one would say anything haha
my AAoA is around 4 years and I'm not sure what my reported utilization is or what that really means. Is lower better?

On the other hand, I applied earlier and ended up getting approved! haha

First of all, how the hell would any of us have any clue what the chances are for you to be approved for a credit card? Do we look like the Psychic Network? "Uh, yeah dude, I give you 64.292929292929% odds like totally, rock on dude!" How the living hell would we know?
What possible intelligent answer can people here give you? It's like saying my brakes are making noise what are the odds the bill will be over 500 dollars? Uh, hell, beats me dude flip a coin or pull out the Magic 8 ball - either one will be as likely to give you the right answer as we will.

Anyway congrats on your new card.

Calm down, Mama Cleo. We all know how much you hate the "what are my odds?" posts.

Haha I guess you're right, I just hoping someone might know more than I do and give me some insight about their experiences. Maybe someone who has similar standings as I do who may or may not have been approved. I came across this forum like 2 days ago so sorry if this is a trend! And thanks~

No biggie sorry to get my hackles up. So many people ask that and it's like we really have no idea - if you want a card, apply for it, then you'll know your odds. All we can do is guess, but, I'm glad you got approved and hope you enjoy the card!
