I saw. Very interesting.

Anyone have any idea if wells fargo will let you PC from Visa to Amex. At the same time, even the lower card has a $45 a year charge.

No word on the PC yet. But it's interesting wells feels they can charge $45 annual for a card that is almost exactly like the BoA Americard.

This is the most exciting thing to happen to Wells Fargo cards since, well ever. Still wouldn't open one, but it is interesting to see Wells Fargo finally attempting to improve their credit cards.

Just wanted to let everyone know, we just posted a detailed review of the card over on the blog: http://creditcardforum.com/blog/wells-fargo-propel-cards/

Our take is that it could be a good choice for WF account-holders who can milk the relationship bonus. Otherwise, you can get similar benefits on cards that offer either more bells and whistles or no annual fee. Seems to be a leap forward for Wells Fargo, though.

Yea it seems to me Wells Fargo and TD Bank offer the most disappointing credit card options.

Nope... I tried hard to get a PC and had to app for the card, and then close the Visa (making sure I moved the limit to the Propel card before I closed).

What made you opt for Wells Fargo offering vs say the BoA Americard?

For most people it probably doesn't make sense; although BoA has the most atrocious customer service (in surveys of people asked who is the worst bank WF is a distant second- no one can touch BoA who is the worst by a mile).

Customer service aside, the card works for me because I spend a lot at restaurants and there are two quarters not covered by my revolving cat cards. I also spend a lot on gas and for a couple quarters out of the year- I can get 3.3% after maxing out the Sallie Mae's $250 monthly spend.

For me it's a moot point since I was recently declined for the BoA 3-2-1 with a 750 FICO (meanwhile on FICO, they have people getting approved for the same card 2 years post bankruptcy with a 620. Go figure...

I think I was in the middle of answering that as you typed the reply, but thought I'd elaborate more. I have a hate/really, really hate relationship with BoA which spans at least a couple of decades. By Bank of America, I don't mean the California bank which was operating as Bank of America for 100 years... I mean the clowns in Charlotte, NC who were once NCNB, then NationsBank, and then bought out the aforementioned CA bank and took their name. One of my first bank accounts was with NCNB and the experience left me with a bitter taste in my mouth and I closed the account and moved to C&S Sovereign... who was bought by NCNB within a year and became NationsBank. I gave them another shot and regretted it. Moved my money to BankSouth who was bought out by NationsBank. Moved my money to Barnett Bank who was (you guessed it) bought out by big red and blue again...

So my banking relationship with Bank of America consists of a grandfathered eChecking account with no fees as long as I don't do transactions in a branch (hard to do since there are no branches within 1000 miles). I have a tiny amount- less than 1% of my paycheck- deposited into the account and then quickly have an ACH moving that money elsewhere. Just enough money to keep BoA from closing the account for being dormant. Occasionally, I'll get calls from BoA peeps wanting to know if I want to expand my relationship with them and I just laugh.

Not that Wells Fargo is much better, but at least they've never screwed me over. I've yet to pay a single fee with WF even though I only have slightly more in their bank. I keep most of my cash at Schwab.
