Frankly, I'd be tickled to have a 720 score. And I would have if I didn't carry some 50% balances. From what I understand, 720 ain't shabby. It isn't 800, but a lot of responsible and well to do people probably don't even have that!
Cards and Credit lines Acquired:

Escape by Discover (7.75K), Barclay Holland America Visa (7K), Macy's store card (7K), Bloomingdale's store card (2.6K), Citi Custom Credit Line (3.5K), PayPal Smart Connect credit line (2.7K), Chase Freedom Visa (5K), Chase United MileagePlus Visa (5K), Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa (6K), Amazon store card (2.2K), Lord & Taylor store card (550), Nordstrom store card (1500), Gold Delta SkyMiles from American Express (3K), Discover It (6.5K), PayPal Credit Line (1K).

Well, i honestly didn't even know that. That's just an EX score though and it has actually risen since then. Last time i checked, my FICO was 682. That's after i got HP by Chase, Citi and BOA for CLI and Citi then denied my app for a Platinum Select World Mastercard because of "too many inquiries". I felt like writing back like "Too many inquiries thanks to your bank and Chase"

Inquiries have a small impact on your scores. I believe they impact for only a couple of years. From what I have read, some companies are more inquiry sensitive, while others dont seem to give a $#@*. YMMV.

Inquiries remain on your reports for 2 years. They impact FICO scores only for 1 year, at which point they are not factored in. Additionally, the impact of inquiries is less after 6 months.
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!
EQ = 846 EX=828 TU = 836 as of 02/2016
