Some things juts never change

Postby MemberSince99 » Mon Apr 21, 2014 7:03 am

Reading the gardening forum is a double edged sword - on the one hand some of them figure out and post some interesting tidbits. On the other hand, watching the garden worshipping Kool-Aid drinking sycophants mindlessly mislead others gets a bit much.

So one guy asks do I have a chance with Amex. Dude, seriously, how the hell would these guys or anyone really know the answer to that?

He gives an EX FICO of 670, 5 inquiries since Jan, 2% utiliziation. (Not sure if all inqs are on EX but worst case assume they are).

But I'm sure you already KNOW what they said right? Oh I'd wait at LEAST a year - any terms you get will be so much better. Uh, dude, if he goes for a charge card, what "terms"?

While the 5 inquiries in the last 3 months MIGHT be a deal breaker, just wait a few more months until some of them are 6 months or older at worst, and then go for it. I might even take the shot now.

Another budding Einstein said to wait until your score is "at least" 690. Really do tell how you came up with that "magic number". I think I know, but I'd need a flashlight and rubber gloves to be sure. People have gotten approved for their charge cards in the 640 and even 630 range, and for their revolvers under 700. It all depends. There is no hard and fast number, though if your score is below 630 I would not bother unless you have a boatload of assets to flash at them.

But in the end I realize it's my fault - I read that stupidity when I knew better. Some threads you just realize you can safely skip.

Entertainment. It's all for entertainment when I see the term 'gardening'. I for one find it amusing how there are so many experts on this topic claiming to know the algorithms applied my charge/credit card companies. If it had the time, I'd troll in there and mess them up.

That would be pretty funny but they would ban you (for life) pretty quickly. Anyone who doesn't spout the party line over there like it's North Korea (meaning you better be able to fake cry when "Dear Leader" dies if you don't want to find out what a re-education camp is like) isn't there posting for very long.

I could post some totally BS way/strategy on how I will ask and acquire a Cent card.

Play those fools along and then in the end claim I got the card and invite.

Obviously show a photo of the card ROFL.

Gently call them all out as 'unknowlegeable' leaders.

Forget the gardening...did you see the one that Bearsandturtlesarethebest posted??? "Family in debt and losing hope fast." What I hate the most is that those morons over there like support him and stuff. He is either a liar or he and his family should be banned from credit altogether.

Yeah that's what my take off was in the General area. I was stunned when I read that, given that about a month ago he's posting all the credit cards they got approved for. Now he's talking BK. I would think it's a joke but you know I actually believe it. But yeah, they really need to stay away from credit for a while (and if they BK they probably will whether they want to or not). Just use a debit card. I lived like that for years and it turned out to be a great thing because it taught me never to make swipes I don't have the funds to back up. It's pretty hard to get yourself into trouble with that mindset, and that was just ingrained into me as habit from having only debit for all those years. I think that would be a great plan of action for them. By the time the BK falls off, if they've taken that to heart, they'll be ready to look at cards again and hopefully not repeat this cycle.
