I kinda want SRT8 to chime in on this one. I kinda see someone taking out a HELOC and spending 250k in a year, getting the centurion and then spending 10k a year after that lol. See why amex wouldn't like?

What steps do I need to take to get centurion? Is it possible or do I have to wait till I become a 1%?

Why? What would it gain you that other cards wouldn't/couldn't?

Why would anyone do that just to get a card, let alone one with a $7,500 fee the first year and $2,500 a year after that? What you've just said is ludicrous and anyone who would do that belongs in a mental institution.

As one of the card holders here.... I can only provide intel on what I know.

a) no one knows except Amex what he invitation algorithm is. Anyone that tells you otherwise is a 'fake'. All I can add is you need to be loyal to Amex. That I know is a must. Can't comment on all the urban rumors about spending habits
b) I don't know about Amex taking the card away either. All I can add is your loyalty is rewarded.

mrow...

I guess I am one that as you say.... belongs in a mental institution.

Hey, different strokes for different folks. From your comment above, it is clear that the Cent is not a card for you. Balking at the fee is a huge indication this card is likely now something of a priority for you.

Ya, my former boss' monthly Amex platinum bill averages between 15K-25K monthly (I used to manage his bills)... I worked for the man for over 5 years and still no invite for the Centurion. So who knows how Amex decides who/when to invite.

Most of those allow you to just buy those statuses. It seems to me you'd be better off doing that than spending money you don't have/can't afford (hence the need for the home equity line of credit to spend at the level you would need to get invited). Or getting the status level you get with the Platinum card, which most people can get with no problem, and doing whatever spending is necessary to get bumped up to platinum status.

Do you really think its above the hood-rat wanna be ballers on instagram to do something like this? Take a look around and think about it while they floss their fake APs, fake jordans, and rented exotics.
