AMEX Platinum to AMEX Morgan Stanley Platinum?

Postby rohnin » Sun Apr 13, 2014 12:20 am

It looks like both cards offer similar benefits except the MS has some extras (kind of like the Mercedes Benz Platinum) but at the same $450/y annual fee. I asked if I could just convert my Platinum to the MS Platinum but I guess it can't be done, but they did say I could get the 50k MR signup bonus if I applied for a MS Platinum card.

Is it worth it to cancel my Platinum and changing to the MS Platinum? Is it an upgrade? I ultimately still want a Centurion of course!

Are there any other Platinum variants out there??

Are you currently a client of Morgan Stanley? It is only available for clients.

Kind of a rhetorical question? Of course.

Does anyone have this card?

It's still an AmEx. It's still a Platinum.
If you are working towards a Centurion having either of them will do the same for you.
So, just take the one you think would benefit you more.
I guess it is as simple as that.

You did not say you were. Seemed to me you were just mystified by the MS version. Next time state the facts and the best answers will be given. How do you expect me to automatically know you are a client?

The question was regarding the card, not whether I was a client. Only a client would be offered this card. Do you have a useful opinion or not?

Beating around the bush is what it was. Just come out and say that you use Morgan Stanley. That's what the post was about. I'm happy to hear you deal with them. Platinum with them or with straight Amex is based on what makes it worthwhile to you. So pick the best one. The MS version has benefits that would be good in your case because it coincides with MS account. Best of luck deciding, doesn't seem too difficult though.

No need to be a dick because you can't decide what platinum card to get. Maybe if you would've put in half the time you've spent contemplating which card will boost your self-ego the most towards something productive, you wouldn't be so unsatisfied with your life.

We only know what you tell us and can't operate just on assumption. We're not here just to be useful to you. We're certainly happy to help but drop the attitude.

Your call. Worth is always subjective. You seem to be aware of the differences. You just need to determine if there's enough of a difference for you and we can't tell you that.
