I currently hold both Premier Rewards Gold and Mercedes Benz Platinum cards to combine point earning with travel benefits. Since the Platinum is a superset of all PRG benefits, I am strongly considering moving to the Everyday Preferred, which by my calculations would earn significantly more MR points at a lower annual fee.
However, rather than cancel my PRG and open an Everyday Preferred, I'm wondering if it makes more sense to cancel the MB Platinum, upgrade the PRG to regular Platinum (since I don't take advantage of MB specific perks), and then open the EP.
In doing so, I'm curious if there's any reason why benefits on the upgraded PRG-Platinum wouldn't be essentially be "reset," i.e. Global Entry and airline credits?
Not sure it's worth the hassle--anything I'm overlooking on PRG vs EP if I keep a Platinum?
