Just recieved my new card today!

Postby Yeru » Thu Apr 03, 2014 3:47 pm

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have had a secured Citi card under my mother's name for about a year. I kept my usage to under 30% and never carried a balance. I applied for a DiscoverIT card for students last month and was approved with a credit line of $500 with a TU 747. I decided to go ahead and take a chance with a big one!

I applied for the new Amex Everyday and was approved!! with a credit line of $3k :oooo :oooo :oooo :oooo

This will be my last card for the year. Ahhh Im so excited to finally have a nice card!! Planning to spend no more than %20 of my credit line

Congratulations!

You can spend as much as you like, just pay off all but 20% (or whatever you want to show) before the statement cuts. Maybe you already knew and meant that and if so I'm sorry to be stupid here just wanted to mention that.

Congrats Buddy.
That seems to be a pretty nice card. I'd apply right away if it was available here.

Thanks mates! Im very excited to have this card in my wallet for many many years to come. I will definitely treat AMEX with respect.

The new AMEX card came with my FICO EX score of 713 so I don't plan to get any new cards anytime this year. I currently have the following cards:

CITI Platinum Select (secured given to me by my mother) - $1,500
Dicover IT for students - $500
AMEX Everyday - $3,000

I was wondering, would it be a smart or bad idea to cancel the CITI Platinum Select at some point next year? I have had the CITI card since I think summer 2012. The DiscoverIT card I acquired in February 2014.

Next year is fine you might want to get a different Visa to replace it with which would give you a card on 3 of the networks and 3 cards, optimal for scoring. So once you get one more tradeline feel free to close it and get your money back. (or hers as the case may be). I agree with your thinking.

I used ~$550 on the first month and ~$570 on the second month of having this card. All balances paid off in full before my statements closed so my balance was $0. Today was my 61st day so I went ahead and requested 3x CLI and was approved!!!

Credit line on my Everyday card is now $9000. I opened my account on March 28. I love you Amex :) :)
