this bugged me too at first but I just learn to let go and focus on myself for most part, though every now and then when I see her post trying to make someone feel bad for wanting to buy something, and using their savings for it, like a birkin

I am tempted to call her out directly because she charged off cc debt (which while isn't the end of the world, seeing as how it was done only a year or two ago, I think it's funny she's trying to tell someone to be more responsible when she's purchased stuff like loubs and valentino bags)

but we are, all entitled to opinions

AMEX is hurtin' for certain these days. AXP stock in the toilet due to being cut off by Costco and potential antitrust action against AXP for telling merchants that they could not suggest lower cost card options to their customers.

I haven't tried to reapply with AMEX but my total credit lines on all Visa/MC/Discover cards is now so high that it takes me a little while to calculate it all, something like $200K now. I leave it all open and pay off balances in full monthly. I am very responsible and my credit score is over 800 now.

I don't need AMEX, but AMEX needs card holders! HURTIN'!

Just a tip. Don't use caps like that. It makes you look like you're screaming and being obnoxious.

Own up to your mistake and move on from Amex. Please.

You flat out robbed American Express and the other banks. I'm appalled that you were even able to get another dime of credit from those banks that you intentionally ran up balances on when you knew that you weren't going to be able to pay it back. Accept responsibility for your absolutely abhorrent decisions, stop acting like American Express needs your Cardmembership by making ridiculous claims that they're "hurtin'" and move on.

Actually, AXP stock is just fine. They took an initial shock after the Costco news, but it's pretty much stabilized now, closing just under $80 today.

Yeahhh.... I don't believe you. If you had $200K credit available elsewhere, you wouldn't be constantly whining over Amex with a sour grapes twist. Frankly, I don't even believe half your credit "re-establishment" story. You're starting to feel a little trollish. Admit it, you're mad that there is at least one creditor that won't let you get away with your irresponsibility.

Stock prices react to news like this all the time, but in and of itself it means nothing regarding the long-term success of a company. Sure, losing the Costco contract is bad news for them and I'd bet some executives are panicking over the short-term stock prices, but don't expect Amex to be going anywhere any time soon. They've evolved a lot from their business model of several decades ago to adapt to the changing credit card environment (to say nothing of their early roots), and they will continue to make changes to try to recoup.

Of course Amex, like all card issuers, needs card members just like Walmart needs customers. I'd wager if they offered you guaranteed approval for a Platinum you would take it.

AXP rose a little because it announced a buyback and 12% rise in its dividends - desperate measures for desperate times (AXP pushing its 52 week low).

yfan just to call you out and because I had a little time, here are pics of some of my cards from my first credit life. Most of the cards were thrown away over the years, but I found a handful representing about 1/3 or so of my old cards. I actually found another handful after taking this pic but whatever, you get the idea. That's my old AMEX Plat on top of my old AMEX green. I had AMEX blue and a business AMEX Open too. I also had a different AMEX business card with NO personal guarantor for my corporation, but I'm not even counting that in all this.
