Amex System Delays

Postby djrez4 » Mon Mar 31, 2014 11:35 am

Applied for the AEP and a regular Platinum this morning. The application status page went haywire and told me to check back in 24 hours. The application status phone number told me that the representatives didn't have access to the necessary system and to call back later.

I was able to reach a new accounts rep. At first, she couldn't see the AEP app, but could see the Platinum app. When she found the AEP app, she was able to tell me that it was with some other department for review.

I've since received emails saying my application for the AEP was received and approved. Nothing for the Platinum, yet.

I think there is something wonky going on for AmEx today. I tried calling CS and was played a recorded message that unforeseen circumstances have resulted in delays for speaking to a rep. I was advised to wait 24 hrs and call back if my needs were not emergency related. My question was not an emergency but I stayed on the line anyway...probably waited no more than 5-10 mins.
