Forgive the ignorance: EO is what? is that an underwriting officer?

Anything is available for the right price, so if you can show Amex you have SUBSTANTIAL assets (and no a couple hundred dollars in your checking account just isn't going to cut it here) or that you are in a VERY lucrative position you might be able to persuade the EO to let you in sooner if you just GOTTA have it now at all costs (which appears to be the case).

Otherwise you are just gonna have to wait. I have no other short cuts for you and neither does anyone else that I'm seeing. If you aren't wealthy enough that you can buy your way into the club then yeah the doors are closed at the moment so just accept it. If you are wealthy enough, contact their EO and prove it.

You're absolutely right! I have to live with the fact I am going to have to wait. I'll wait till next year to try. Yeah, by no means am I wealthy. I am just a poor Irish/Mexican boy from a small town that is just learning how to do this credit thing right. But, im trying! ;)

The executive office. The suits who get big bonuses and use buzzwords in every sentence to show they are people of intelligence and distinction. An executive would NEVER say "I used a fork to eat a potato", no they would say "I utilized a multi-tined instrument to process a starch resource". You'll find they dress in only the finest suits and words like "proactive", "paradigm", and "Shareholder value" are in every sentence they utter. Everything they say is 100% PC and sounds computer generated (literally). But no matter how "empowered" their underlings are told they are, it's the EO that calls the shots and gets the massive bonuses, though of course the powerless underlings are to blame for everything that goes wrong while the suits hog the credit for whatever goes right, even if they were only there in spirit, because that's just the kind of team players they are.

I honestly don't understand the near obsession with getting an Amex. Trust me, it doesn't get you laid. I've used my Gold many times and no one has ever said a word about it or given it a second look. The CSP gets a LOT more attention. Maybe if it was the black card, but then only the true gold diggers would recognize it as something special anyway.

I would say this, as someone who came from horrible credit to what i have listed in my signature. Its gonna take some time. I personally would focus on making on time payments with your capital one card and after 4-5 months, i cant remember how many it is exactly, they will usually give you a small boost in credit limit to somewhere around 500 or so.

once you get there, continue to maintain perfect history and payments, and focus on trying to get a bump from your other cards if you can that aren't secured. I personally started with first premier and a secured cap one card. after a few years of zero missed payments, and always on time and early, I started getting better cards. ( I had no idea a knowledge base such as this existed)

then one day I figured i'd go for a prime card, and low and behold, chase gave me a shot. the rest is history.

the point is it took time, and this is gonna take time. a BK is a big thing to come back from. you have $2800 in credit cards currently.... Id ask myself do I really need more?

I set a goal of getting both a charge card and credit card from Amex cause in my head, to me it said "you made it" as far as credit goes. While it was incredibly rewarding to see your approved on the computer screen, and hear welcome to american express over the phone, i had a moment the other day where I just realized it was simply another bill to pay at the end of the month, and that all it really says about you is you have ok enough credit and you generally pay your bills on time. nothing more, nothing less. ( I was a little bummed the envelope the card came in didnt have confetti or a small airplane bottle of champagne.

You'll get there, it just takes time. It took me 5 years of getting my crap together. you'll be there in 4 tops when the BK clears. until then just keep paid on time, and make little steps. remember what my grandpa taught me- inch by inch, its a cinch, yard by yard, its hard. -Bill

That is true!

some how i get more compliments on my Marriott card compared to my amex.. (waiting on my CSP- should be here this week)

-At Vegas a bartender told me "what? is american express now giving out card to anyone you're too young for one of these"
-Another time some guy at a nike store asked "are you an authorized user or something?"

Now my Marriott card get me compliments 9/10...
