Amex Credit Secure

Postby darkguy2 » Thu Feb 27, 2014 10:12 am

Well when I activated my Costco Amex I was offered to sign up for Credit Secure for only $1 and it gave me all three of my reports and PLUS scores. So I got it in the mail today and have to decide if it is worth $15 a month to keep. Here is the site that lists the benefits. Looks like I can get two reports per month and my PLUS scores. So my question is is it worth it?
Discover IT - $5,700
Chase Freedom - $5,700
Costco Citi - $13,000
Sallie Mae - $4,000
Chase Sapphire Preferred - $6,000
Chase Sapphire Reserve - $19,500
Citi Double Cash - $6,500
Amex BCE - $13,000

FICOs: Discover (777), SallieMae (764), Amex (767), Citi (772)
FAKOs: CK- TU (760), EQ (760)

Doesn't look like it. There are ways to get all three CRs for basically free, and it doesn't provide actual FICO scores.
Wallet: AMEX Premier Rewards Gold NPSL | BankAmericard Cash Rewards (Cal Alumni Association) $9.6k | Chase Sapphire Preferred $5k | Capital One Venture $5k | Chase Freedom $3k

Drawer: Discover IT $10k | Chase Slate $6k | BankAmericard $5.9k | Capital One Quicksilver $4.5k | AMEX Hilton HHonors $4.4k

FICOs: EX (per AMEX, 3/18/14): 728 | TU (per Discover, 3/20/14): 753 | EQ (per Capital One, 2/25/14): 720

That's for you to answer. I wouldn't consider it worth it but worth is a subjective matter regardless of topic. If I wanted to use a CMS I'd probably go with EIDT again. Its interface is terrible but it does offer pulls every 24 hours for a relatively low cost. Most consider FAKO's to be useless but some find them handy for monitoring general trends. Again, your call.

As Takeshi said, worth is up to you to determine. What is worth it to one person may be not so much for another. I have Credit Secure and for me it is worth it, for the information that is provided. While the scores are not true FICO, they are the ones that most closely match my true FICO scores, with only minor deviation. The detailed reports that I get are worth it and I like the way the inquiries are laid out for all 3, so I can view them all together. Compared to the alternatives, for me, it's worth it. YMMV.
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!
EQ = 846 EX=828 TU = 836 as of 02/2016
