App'd for the Platinum, and approved

Postby jcmm » Mon Feb 24, 2014 12:02 pm

Hey guys,

Posted here about a month ago evaluating whether to go with Amex Gold or Platinum and comparing benefits. Last night I decided to bite the bullet, and went for Platinum. Approved instantly. I was a little disappointed that there was only the 25,000 MR promotion going on and not 50,000, but I suppose they'll come in handy to redeem for money off a future flight.

I'm looking forward to Platinum card membership!

Thanks, guys. Was surprised that I got a UPS Express overnight package with it earlier this morning. I thought they just came the regular mail from what I had read before. I've been a card member since '11, but the card shows my member since date being '14. Not a big deal though. Thought they might have done an SSN match when I app'd and it would have been backdated automagically.

Hi jcmm, if it says Since 2014, that means our system was unable to get an SSN match. Please call the number on the back of your card and we should be able to link the accounts and get that taken care of for you.

Cool. Just got off the phone with them a few minutes ago after activating, and the representative I spoke to took care of, saying I would get another one in about a week or so. Maybe since I've just been an additional card holder on another account it caused it not to match. He found that I was a member since 2011 right away and corrected it though. Good stuff!

Enjoy your platinum! The service is great, the perks can be generous if used, and I've enjoyed the proverbial ride.

I'm getting off the wagon this year due to the loss of perks, but hopefully you find use and enjoyment from it!

Awesome!

I got my Platinum card back in October.

I suppose I was lucky enough to get it with an offer for 100K points after $3K in purchases (done in a weekend trip to Chicago). I like the benefits and customer service this card offers! Way better than any Visa Signature or MC World Elite card I have.
