Membership Rewards Express Airfare Redemption

Postby tigerowl06 » Fri Feb 21, 2014 8:51 pm

My Zync card is coming up for renewal and I'm thinking of cancelling. One question in my mind is what the going rate is for airline tickets in MRE points. Are there flights for 25,000 points the same way there are flights for 25,000 miles? I've tried googling this but haven't found a convincing/on target answer. Do some of you on this forum have experience with this? Membership rewards express points come from Zync, Green (I think) and Blue. Maybe somebody has a PRG and can give me a clue at least about regular MR points.

TIA.

Hi tiger,

Membership Rewards Express points cannot be transferred to airline frequent flyer accounts. Cards that participate in MRE are Blue and Zync. Hope this helps!

Right, but I think you can pay in points and I'm curious as to what that point price would be. I redeemed all my points, so they won't even let me look at prices.

The points when used with credit cards are set at a certain value. You basically think of it as 25,000 points will probably get you about $250 or less towards a flight. The only real advantage for doing points for flights this way is if you need a PAID ticket to earn miles or to get a value for a spend requirement for elite. There are much better use for points in no transferable programs than buying flights in my experience.
