A Couple of Amex Questions

Postby MrMosby » Tue Feb 18, 2014 7:17 pm

1. On the Amex Charge Cards if I remember right the statements run on Day 1 of the month and were usually marked "Please pay by" the 18th or something like that. Is that correct, or do I have it backwards and "Please pay by" is the 1st?

2. I used to have a PRG and a Platinum card at one point (over a year ago for the Plat, and 2011 for the PRG). Would I ever be targeted for higher signup bonuses again, or am I basically stuck with the public offers?

3. I recently opted back in to firm credit offers, how often does Amex do marketing campaigns of these sorts?
Everyday Preferred $45K | Amex Platinum NPSL | Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve $45K | Delta Platinum $30K | Chase Sapphire Preferred $64K | Citi Hilton HHonors $45K | Discover IT $25K

Short payment timeframes seem to be the norm for AmEx charge cards from quick Googling.

I noticed this when I had the Corp Green card, so I called them to ask about it since I was under the impression it was a 30 day TL, not 15. They said that the mid-statement pay date was the "suggested" pay by date, and that I had until the day before the cycle closed to pay the bill. I'd verify with them (maybe by online message/chat so you have a copy of it) - but I believe the personal cards are the same way.

I had an offer in the mail about 30-45 days after opting back in.

can someone who currently has a personal charge look at when their statement ran and what the due date is. I'm actually more concerned with the statement date :-) but both pieces would be nice to know.

They can be flexible. I've changed mine. My Gold has a due date of the 2nd of each month, with a statement date of the 5th. My Zync is one day later, the 3rd and 6th. These were the dates that I requested from AMEX, having initially been given mid-month due/statement dates.
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!
