Amex Blue Sky question

Postby BonusPack » Tue Feb 11, 2014 12:20 am

Hello I just purchased a 200$ Southwest ticket a few days ago with my blue sky and now that the charge is no longer pending I wanted to use my rewards to pay for the flight. I have plenty of points to pay, the charge is no longer a pending charge and in the Amex website my plane ticket purchase is categorized by them as "travel". However when I go to use my points it says I don't have any eligible purchases.

I know I just purchased the ticket a few days ago but I thought that since its no longer a pending charge it would be fine.

I will be calling tomorrow to get some answers but Id like to know if anyone has any experience with this and could tell me what they know.

What did they say?

I would say the points will be credited at the closing of your billing cycle after you make payment.
Sapphire Reserve: travel & dining
Blue Cash Preferred: groceries & gas
Freedom: 5% cats
Double Cash: everything else

If I remember right, you have to wait until the statement is issued. They might be able ot do it over the phone, but I wouldn't count on it.
