So I'm doing an analysis for my next vacation, and it may be slightly cheaper for me to get a good Amex signup bonus and book with Westin instead of Ritz/Marriott (including the annual fee in the analysis).
The problem is I've had both the PRG and Platinum in the past (over a year ago), and am a current Amex customer with my BCP (it sounds like I can be denied some of the more lucrative signup bonuses).
So two questions -
1) What sign up offers should I keep an eye out for that would apply to a current & previous members?
2) Would it be worth while to just get the PRG now and wait a year and try to get a Platinum upgrade offer (with CARD act I believe you have to wait a year) since it appears if I get the PRG card I wouldn't be eligible for a Platinum offer later.
3) Should I just wait to see if I get a targeted 50K/100K offer sometime in the next 12-14 months, and just book with Ritz/Marriott points and eat the extra cost if I don't get an offer.
I need to bank at least 50K Bonus MR's through signup bonuses in addition to my regular spend over the next 14th for it to be cheaper.
