You have to ask specifically to be transferred to an American agent. Their foreign CSRs in my experience do not have the heavy, obvious thick accent that the CSRs at Cap One have. You can usually tell by other subtle ways.

I understand. sometimes I feel the same way. I'm paying them an annual fee for this nonsense and I have cards where I pay no fee at all and they have Americans who have a clue who can actually help me. Where's the "elite" in that other than the shafting we are getting? And where's my sign up bonus I earned Amex? Do I need a flashlight and rubber gloves to find it?

Memeber,

I hear you they make you work for their membership and overall blah bonuses.

I was thinking, can I transfer my CL to one of my chase cards or does it not work that way via other companies?

While I'm not Member, I can answer your CL transfer question: No, you cannot.

You can only ask to transfer CL "in-house" (or, I guess saying "in-bank" would make more sense). AmEx has absolutely no relation to Chase and will not have anything to do with your credit outside of the AmEx "house."

RE: PC the Costco card to BCE. Any more detail you can offer on the cards not being in the same "family?" There's only one Costco card so that's a pretty lonely family. Both cards are, however, cash rewards and with no annual fee. A much more likely family. Try another tactic. Ask them exactly WHY they are not the same family and what cards you can PC to.

When you're feeling up to it try escalating this to their social media channels. Twitter is a good start (M-F from 9AM-10 PM). I suggest being pleasant despite your frustration. I find it's more useful, especially in the future, than causing a storm. You never know what notes they're leaving about you in your profile!

Thanks.

They told me I cannot transfer it at all. Either cancel and be done or if I want another amex i need to apply fresh. I have never had to jump through so many hoops. I think I will cancel and never deal with amex again. I will stick with my chase visas

I reiterate my idea of turning to social media. If only to get a better explanation as to why it's not possible. Sorry to hear about your experience, sj.

You can too transfer part of your limit from one Amex to another Amex revolver. They don't know what the hell they are talking about or they are trying to get out of doing work.

Unbelievable how low this company has sunk. They must have Cap One reps on the payroll now.

You just need to get in touch with someone who knows what the hell they are doing and is willing to do actual work. It should not be this hard to do the simple things you are looking to do.

I do hear you though. It is crossing my mind more and more lately to move on from Amex.

Off topic, but I'd like to know why you want to transfer/upgrade rather than applying the new card to have the sign up bonus?

As suggested I took to twitter, I will let you know if I get a reply.

The reason I want to transfer because it is a lot better for my credit to transfer it then have a closed account and another hard pull. To me the sign up bonus of 100 or 150 dollars is nothing and for all the affect to my credit it would need to have another zero behind it lol

Just keep the Costco, never use it since it has no annual fee. Then go ahead and apply for the Amex you do want. Yes it will be a hard pull but your score will rebound quick plus you will be getting a higher available credit ratio with the new Amex card. Which will help your credit score. Plus you get a sing up bonus, a winning situation. Just get passed the hit on your credit. You said yourself you are not in the market for a major loan or any other type of credit.

This is why I asked.
