Done and Done!

Postby Snowman » Fri Dec 13, 2013 8:20 pm

Well, After waiting for 6 months to not app for anything I apped and got the BCE and the SPG! The limit on the BCE is 2k and on the SPG it's 4k. I had to ask the rep on the SPG If I heard that correctly- Did I really get approved for 4k? And he said yes, originally you were approved for 2k but did you request a CL increase?(I said no, I've been at work all day and have had no time to call) and he said yes it's really 4k (the computer auto bumped it apparently?). In addition, I called in and decided to close my PRG today since I really have no use for it, and he told me that the annual fee does not need to be paid so I'm good. Right now, I'm incredibly happy with my situation and for now I wont be apping indefinitely (or at least until graduation.) The only thing I could possibly want now is a car loan, but I still have some saving to do until I'm able to make a down payment and buy one. But I'm so glad I got approved for the cards that I really wanted. :D

I won't even bother to mention that if you had waited a couple of more weeks you would have gotten better backdating! :D I know how much you wanted these cards so it's not really important. Still happy you got them Snowman!

Member- Thanks! I feel good about how it played out. Even though it took me 5 days to get an answer from AMEX for the SPG (I've had finals this week, so really no time to call in and ask what my limit is.) Ahh yes, the 61 day CLI. I think I'll go for it on my BCE since I like to get my limit to what my SPG should be or higher, but with my 15k income, could that happen? (I put 15k since I ended up getting some OT, and we get a Christmas bonus...on our last paycheck lol.) Yeah I realize if I did wait that I could have, but I just wanted to make sure I could get it. I'm not impatient and I could have easily waited, but the opportunity was there at the right time (for me at least) and I took it. Yeah, I'm the type of person to keep the card forever unless I don't need it any longer. These cards most likely will be keepers for me..lol. Thanks again member! I couldn't have gone through the last 6 months without your support and the support of the forum.

Dickey- Thanks for the reminder! I'll definitely remember that as I want my BCE to be around my SPG or higher...hopefully it goes well.

I actually think you could have kept the AMEX PRG card. Usually when you threaten to close an account AMEX CSR try to work with you. They could have just waived the annual fee for one more year.

Luv- the rep never even asked. I asked him to close it, ten minutes later it was done. I think I didn't put much spend was one if the reasons why they didn't even bother. I could've kept it without the af tho.

It doesn't matter - go for it. If you don't you don't, no harm no foul. It's not like they will take AA on you for asking. For sure go for it and see what happens.

I most definitely will then! 2 months and waiting to go. What should I do in order to help my chances of getting one?
