FICO advice

Postby MemberSince99 » Tue Dec 10, 2013 4:46 pm

Was just reading someone posting on FICO how they really want an Amex card. Have a few inquiries and new accounts of course. (Don't we ALL)?

Nothing that looked terrible, hell I got approved with more inquiries and accounts than this guy has. I've read that people with 640s got approved for an Amex charge (which is what he wants as opposed to the revolvers).

So what do you guess they told him? Anyone? YEP "Garden". Of course, who that reads that forum wouldn't know that.

I would have told him go for it they are as easy to get today as they have been in years, and the sooner you get one the sooner the backdating starts so you want it as soon as possible, at least your first. And besides you just never know. They will ALWAYS tell you to garden, though none of them actually do that themselves judging by all the seedlings I see. In the case of Amex, I'm inclined to say go for it, and get it or see what they want you to work on and then plan to be better prepared for the next time if declined or set your Member Since date if not.

Agreed. The earlier one establishes themselves with an Amex charge card the better. It was the smartest thing my 20 year old self did as it established my Member Since 99!!
