AMEX 3x CLI questions...!

Postby jumbo » Thu Dec 05, 2013 11:12 am

I have a Delta Gold initially accepted for 10K on October 8. (My over all utilization on all revolvers is around 20% )

I read a detailed post on AMEX 3x CLI

So I need to know something from your personal experiences:
  • Which has higher chances from your experience: by automated phone, online, or by phone talking to a CSR
  • What is the threshold for a financial review? 25K, 30K or more/less.
  • What CL should I ask for, without triggering the FR (I have listed my actual income (45K), but don't wanna go through all the hassle of FR)
  • Apply on day 61 (which is Dec 8) or wait a few more days?

I don't think it matters which way you use in terms of success - the computer makes the decision no matter how the information gets input.

I've read 35k is the threshold at which they want financials. That's what people on FICO said, so I can't personally verify, just what I've read.

And a CLI request will NOT trigger F/R - if they ask for tax documents you are free to not provide them and Amex will not take AA against you. They simply will not give you the CLI.

There is no reason to wait. They will base their decision off the last time they soft pulled you and there is no gain or penalty asking on day 63 as opposed to day 61 that I've ever heard of.

Sorry, but I'm not sure if I'm interpreting this how you meant it. Do you mean that people say if you file your income at 35K or more then AmEx asks for proof? From personal experience: this year I filed income at higher than this before asking for a CLI and no proof was requested.
Citi Forward ($10.1K), AmEx Blue Cash Everyday ($30K), Chase Freedom ($12.4K), Discover it ($5.5K), Barclaycard Arrival ($12.5K), L.L. Bean Visa ($5K). FICO 806 (TU), 812 (EQ), 806 (EX).

No, I mean your total exposure with Amex, if it would go to 35k or higher. They like more income that wouldn't be a problem, just the total amount of revolving credit limits you have.

Ahhh, a CL of 35K or more. Understood. Thanks for clarification.

Thanks for the question:
Quick question: If amex does not accepts the cli, does it counter offer an increase, or is it flat out declined.

If they are unwilling to give you the full amount you request, but are willing to give you a lower amount, they will counter.

Stop over thinking and analyzing to death and just go for it and see what happens this isn't life or death and the fate of the free world does not hang on this CLI :)

Quick update:
I requested the CLI online from 10K to 25K.
I was countered offered 15.4K and I accepted it. So 3x CLI is not always true.
