Amex Intro offer

Postby BonusPack » Wed Dec 04, 2013 11:21 am

So I got a mail offer from Amex for their blue sky card. 30,000 points for spending 500 dollars in the first month. And today it came through. I thought for sure there was going to be some catch but nope! Got the points today. Ahh free flight here I come! So anyways if you get that offer its the real deal. I read so many stories of credit card companies not going through with their promises when it comes to intro offers but it feels good to get mine ;)

All the companies from chase to american express have given me what they promise. I wonder what companies are not keeping their word..

only thing at the moment that is worrying me a bit is redeeming a night stay certificate + points at the same time with my marriotts credit card. I made a reservation for 5 days using points for two weeks from now.. but the dam server wasnt accepting my night stay certificate and points at the same time. so i called elite services from the number on the back of my marriotts chase card and they said the system was not recognizing the free stay certificate and the points at the same time, but elite service just told me that when i get to the hotel to just let them know and hope that the hotel accepts it because "not all hotels work the same" hopefully its not some BS- but we`ll see what happens in 2 weeks..

server wasn't accepting my night stay certificate and points at the same time.
I did certificate and points a few weeks ago and had similar issue with the computer system. I spoke with elite services and they told me the same thing and everything went super smooth at the hotel.

For me, the catch in BlueSky point is that you have to redeem in the increment of 7,500 points to have $100. AMEX also determines which purchases are eligible, and you'll lose the remaining points. For example:

You have 30,000 points, which could convert into $400. If your purchase is $350, you will still have to use 28,000 points to reimburse it. That's how I interpret their policy of using reward points. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm still waiting for the sign up bonus I was told I was supposed to get. Haven't heard a word or received my points as of yet. Amex is the only lender I've ever had an issue with on the subject.

How long have you been waiting? It took around 6-8 weeks as I remember.

I called about a month ago was told they would look into it. If I don't see it by the time the next statement cuts I'm supposed to contact a rep who posts here (out of the goodness of his heart he PM'd me on his own about it).

So kudos to him, but Amex, not so much at this point.
