Okay so I bit the bullet and apped...

Postby iHackerSix » Mon Dec 02, 2013 5:29 pm

Ok so I've applied before for the Amex Green and was declined immediately but this time I got a different response. I applied Nov. 28th (Thanksgiving Day), aka, my birthday, and I wasn't declined or approved. I got the we're processing your app and please wait patiently message. Today is Dec. 2nd and it still says "In Progress". What am I to think of this? Declined? Approved? I have a triple monitoring service and haven't seen any inquiries so I guess they didn't even run my credit. I know if you apply more than once in 30 days they cancel your apps but its been over 60 days since my last app with them. Any input my credit guru's?...

Sit on your hands. They probably haven't even gotten to it yet.

Hahaha, that's funny but true. I've checked that status site probably 50 times. Why does it bother me, I have no idea... :ppp

Call 'em up! Put their legendary customer service to the test! They actually may need some tidbits from you to complete the process, some verification items. A phone call can't hurt.
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!

I agree you should call. When I app'd for BSP, it sat there for 10 days like that. I finally called and they approved but if I hadn't called who knows how long it would have sat. They suggested it was some sort of glitch. I agree with calling them it can't hurt anything.

Like the others have said. Call them. Maybe you can even convince them to give it to you. You could be on the fence and the phone call could be the deciding factor. Thats what happened when I got the Chase Freedom a year or 2 ago.
Platinum Delta Skymiles $12,900
Marriott Rewards Premier $12,000
Discover IT $12,000
USAA Cash Rewards $11,000

Chase Freedom $4,500
Zales $4,000

Chase is a whole lot easier to recon with than Amex is. Take it from me - I've tried them both. I doubt talking with them on the phone will work, as it might well with Chase - different animals. If he's on the fence they will triple pull, once they do the pull. I suspect he may be in limbo as I was and he could well be approved. But Amex generally will not allow you to recon unless your report was not accurate.

So as you said, call.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I guess I'm just afraid of another decline from the coveted Amex.

Overcome your fear young Jedi and call. The worst that can happen is a decline and you don't get the card, same situation as you have now.

Potentially you get in with a prime lender you want in with. I've called them up and been declined and went on to have cards with them like I have in my signature now. You can do it too, be brave and strong and think of what you want and make it happen.
