AMEX's My Offers are a nice alternative to typical 1-5% quarterly rewards.

For example, Chase's 5% reward at Amazon required you spend $500 to get $25 back. But AMEX trumps it: only spend $75 to get $25 back.

These pointed offers are great if shop the vendors they provide or always wanted to. In that regard, it's a mixture of Groupon/Amazon Local with a credit-card, cashback twist.

Amazon was a no-brainer but could have been even better. An offer at Best Buy also would have been good.

I have one more offer to use: spend $150 on Amtrak, get $30. (And I already get 15% off Amtrak with Student Advantage.)

Anyway, I'm loving AMEX so far.

MemberSince99 wrote:Not bad at all. If you think about it, those offers really kind of make up for what otherwise are kind of lackluster rewards compared to other lenders. (I know Amex offers more "perks" but just in terms of rewards they aren't really outstanding on the charge cards).

I've been putting most of my spend on the Barclay card I've more than met the spend for the 400 bonus already, now waiting for the Citi card to arrive to do the same with it.

I tried to take advantage of all the gas offer lolz. Haven't had a chance to use Amazon, also have a Best Buy offer. I hope they have more to choose.

It already expired, but spend $250 and get $25 back.

I sat in my car at the gas pump for almost 30 minutes while I called Amazon to see if the place I was at was one of My Offers. I couldn't access the info on my own using the mobile site.

Of course, after all that, the station wasn't included. FML.

I think if you waste 30 minutes of your life on that it's just not worth it. And I think you called Amex not Amazon right?

Do you have Amex app? Usually what I do is whenever I check my statement, I'll take a look at "offers for you" and save all the deals that I think I might use. For the gas, I usually take a note about the name of the gas station. It states very clear in the deal all the locations, like if they say $5 back if spend $30 at Chevron, you can also use at Texaco.

To Ikarus: Yes, it's a $25 back if spend $250

Grr. Spent $600 at Best Buy before 12/31. Would've loved $25 back.

I do see a J Crew deal for spend 100, get 25 back.

Not really a J Crew type, though.

The only thing I don't like about AMEX My Offers is that they're counted as immediate statement credits instead of reward dollars, where they can be tucked away for a rainy day.

Did you try the app? I am able to view the offers there.
