Still haven't heard from Amex on my BCP points

Postby MemberSince99 » Thu Nov 21, 2013 6:46 am

I mentioned in a previous thread I was supposed to get 250 sign up bonus, two Amex reps confirmed, met the spending in the time confirmed by one Amex rep who said they would pass it on to marketing and then send me a letter.

Still haven't heard.

I may hear, eventually, and who knows how it will turn out, but for being the elite gods of credit that everyone thinks they are, Amex sure seems to have problems I haven't had from other lenders regarding sign up bonuses. With Chase and BofA as soon as I met the spend the next month that bonus was available.

You would think being "THE" prestige company the creme de la creme they market themselves as after admitting I should have gotten it they would go ahead and post while they check into it. Nope.

I'll give these guys some time, but this doesn't impress me any with how uber they are. In the end, if they don't give it to me, I'll live, I'm not going to pursue it relentlessly, but like Amex, I won't forget when they don't honor their obligations either.

And before some guy pipes up with a nasty reply (because he loves Amex so much) about what a cretin I am that I burned Amex and I deserve to get screwed and waterboarded and nuked for the love of the Lord, please, get a grip, smoke a bowl and enjoy life. Thanks.

What a neanderthal! ;)

There's a small part of me that wonders if they confiscated your signup bonus to pay off the old account.

I wondered about that too. I thought I'm overthinking it, but who knows.

Makes you wonder too, if they actually did that, do they actually credit that to the old account or still expect me to someday pay the full amount? Not much would surprise me.

I think if that happens, well more power to them, and I think my business relationship with Amex would be concluded. Keep the money, enjoy it, it's something back, and I could see just moving on from them.

If that happens I'll update here. I've never heard of them doing that though. Can't say a part of me blames them I wouldn't, but then again, I guess that is about as ethical as me not paying them, so when they preach in the future, maybe they should look in the mirror. Just saying, IF it happens, who knows, maybe there is a reason. Heck if I know. They are in my sock drawer anyway. Maybe it's better to just move on to the lenders who like me and not look back.

I actually might end up with just two cards and be totally happy that way. I've stopped really caring what my FICO is anymore. So I'm not sure there is a reason to keep Amex and Chase any longer. In fact I wish I hadn't moved my checking to Chase and if I had it to do over I'd stay where I was. Hindsight is always 20/20.

But I'm seriously honestly thinking of just cutting the cord with Amex and Chase for good and staying with the lenders who like me.

I just don't want to jump to conclusions we'll let it play out. But yeah I gotta wonder too djrez

I heard that from a few people. I'm willing to keep free cards and see how it goes. It does bother me when people/companies do not honor their word. I am waiting for my 25000MR from my Gold. I've reached the spending within the first week. Do I have to wait until the 3rd month to get the benefit or should I get it right away? I'm not really sure.

I would think you should get it the statement after you pay, so figure in 2 months.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep a look out for it.
