[Platinum Cardmembers] HHonors Gold Status

Postby travisrauh » Sat Nov 02, 2013 11:53 pm

Attention Platinum Cardmembers:

From November 1st thru December 31st, you can be immediately elevated to Hilton HHonors Gold status simply by calling the number on the back of your card and speaking with card services. Please have your HHonors number ready. Don't have a Hilton HHonors account? Visit http://hilton.com/hhonors to sign up.

Happy travels!

Thanks for posting this.

How long does status last? I may cancel my Citi Reserve card if it's permanent like SPG Gold.

From what I would assume, just like SPG, I would think as long as you have your Platinum card. Since that information was not specified, however, I currently advise those who ask "one year". I will update this thread when that detail is finalised.

@websteth - Yes, this will extend your HHonors gold status by at least one year.

I just called into Platinum services and they guy I spoke with said that it is only for Starwood right now, I tried again 10 minutes later and got the same answer from a different person. Do you know is there a specific person I can speak with or call about to get the hilton status upgraded?

Thanks!

Sorry for the inconvenience, rynpilot - I actually had the same problem when I called in about my personal card as well the first time... not all representatives are yet aware as this is a brand new perk. Please be sure to specify to them that this is for the Hilton HHonors status. Ask them to reference our knowledgebase's alerts tab if necessary. Please let me know if you continue to experience difficulty.

Do additional card holders also get gold status?

I called a few days ago and the rep confirmed that the new perk for Platinum holders is Hilton Honors Gold status starting January 2014, good for 1 calendar year. Come 2014 year-end, Amex will evaluate the program's popularity and determine whether or not to extend it as an indefinite complimentary perk, like SPG Gold status.
