Platinum Pending

Postby ncosky290 » Wed Oct 30, 2013 12:08 pm

Applied last night for Amex Platinum. Traveling International a few times and it will be nice for the travel perks. Got the 7-10 message. Online says pending. Called in and they said it has to be reviewed. Anyone know since it isn't a instant decline if I got a good chance of getting it?

Thanks

I think you'll probably get it, unless you have lots of inquiries or lates or something.

I mean I have a good number of inquires from student loans and a new card this year but those should not be looked at as more then 2 i would hope. I have had my account with Amex since Feb and used card a good amount and never any lates or over limit. PIF every month. If they say no at least it isn't a HP and I will try again in 3 months...

Overall credit utilization & carrying a balance is a big factor for AMEX decision (speaking from my experience). If your utilization is less and you are not carrying a balance in other cards, you have a good change + you should have decent income.

Honestly there is no way anyone can do anything other than make a guess. And since we have far less information than you do to base the guess on, our guess can't be any better than yours.

All we can do is repeat the inquires/utilization/no baddies/6 or more months history mantra you'll see everywhere as giving you a good chance. Beyond that, it's flip a coin.

I can tell you that under review does NOT equate to a denial which is much more often than not the case with Chase and 90+ percent of the time a no with Citi. It just really depends, good luck hopefully you'll get it. Having BCP your the odds are likely in your favor if all else is good.
