I was recently approved for Delta Gold, but my FICO experian was 729, with 5 hard inquiries and 2.2 AAoA.

Having a relationship with Amex certainly makes things easier, but I think you need to slow your roll for about 6 months and then go for another card. Are both of those charge cards the same age (3 months)? Also, is your credit report really young/thin (I'm assuming)?
Chase Freedom ($2.5K, 10/2009)
Discover it ($6.6K; 03/2011)
Amex BCE ($19.5K; 02/2013 - 2011 BD)
USAA Limitless 2.5% (22.5K; 08/2017)
